    I have just receives a fantastic referral from a placed candidate.

    I have just interviewed the suggested candidate, and he is a very strong multimodal, new business sales person based in Manchester (North West patch).

    Main Achievements:

    -2014 – Achieved £128K GP

    -Won the award for most new clients won in 2014 against 9 other sales executives (33 new clients won).

    -Recently promoted to Senior Sales Executive.

    -On target to achieve £190K - £195K GP in 2015 (£16K this month)

    He has 2.5 years in his current position and is New Business through and through. He is interested in carrying on within an external, new business sales role for a freight forwarder who can offer a career path.

    He has about 70 live clients across Air, Sea and European Road Freight. He meets many of these every 2 weeks so his relationships with them is superb.     As Full Loads Transport Planner you will be a point of coordination and contact for haulers/drivers and commercial/shipping departments where issues relating to operation and service are communicated and handled in a satisfactory manner. Weekend phone duties are part of the working hours.

    Your role and activities include the following:
    • Keep the transport management systems updated within the functions of transport planning such as collections; deliveries; shipment; driver orders and equipment.

    Damco - Netherlands - The Hague

    The position will be based at Damco’s global Headquarters in The Hague as part of the Global Tender Management setup. The primary focus will be on tenders owned by Sales in the European Region. The position will also support the global network winning business owned by Sales resources and managed by Tender teams in other regions around the world.

    The position will report to the Tender Team Lead Europe Region and will offer a rich variety of learning opportunities, including:
    Hands on execution of Damco’s commercial strategy delivering wins
    Working directly with front line on delivering/pursuing customers business
    Frequent exposure to senior general management across commercial and operations
    Being instrumental in implementing a global project and driving important change in the organization

    Key Responsibilities
    Manage the overall Tender Process
    Drive a process with Sales/Product/P&L owners, which leads to a clearly defined tender strategy (how to win)
    Define and drive project plans and communicate same to stakeholders
    Coordinate, facilitate and drive winning tender process
    Present tender approach/strategies through the sales owner to end customers
    Establish database and virtual networks in support of tenders
    Collaborate with main stakeholders, such as Sales owners and support people, Global Head of Sales & Key Account Programme, Global Ocean & Air & Supply Chain Product management, etc.

    For RFIs –Key responsibilities are:
    Drive the RFI response, if required by Sales

    Facilitate pre-launch calls with Sales and product to clarify strategy
    Receive tender from Sales, i.e. tender summary and clear plans on what we are positioned to win and value presentation
    Dissect and review tender documents in detail and validate summaries
    Identify and summarize potential “red flags” (commercial/operational risks) in tender material
    Work with Sales addressing “red flags”, as well as relevant functions/stakeholders, if any
    Convert customer rate sheet into internal rate format
    Identify what costs/rates need to be procured and what can be sourced from core tender database
    Drive procurement (establish costs/rates) of the relevant services offered to customers
    Interact and collaborate closely with the other global tender management teams with regards to cost/rate collection
    Calculate relative and absolute profit estimates per service component for sign-off by Sales
    Convert rate/cost input from Damco stakeholders into customer rate sheets
    On behalf of the Sales owner, hand in the final tender response to the customer

    Experience with online sourcing tools (e.g. Ti-Contract, GT Nexus, Ariba)
    Strong financial/numbers acumen
    Commercial insight and selling experience/flair desirable
    Bachelor Degree/Level preferred
    Written and spoken fluency in English
