Senior IC Design Engineers (MSc, BSc)

The Chip and IP development department in the Embedded Division focuses on the chip development of hardware security systems. The design of the systems is done by a team of experts on chip design and verification. Chip hardware is developed in Verilog code using state of the art tools and methods.

The senior IC design engineer is an engineer with a high level of expertise in chip hardware development and good knowledge of embedded software development. Major area of expertise is the realm of networking and security solutions, with detailed knowledge of related interfaces, -standards and -protocols, security protocols and algorithms, encryption hardware, traffic behavior and performances, embedded CPUs, Security- and Communication processors, embedded operating systems and development tools, analysis and benchmarking methods and tools.

The major tasks of the Senior IC design engineer include functional specification, implementation and verification of security chip and IP designs based on the architectures and requirements as defined by customers, the SafeNet architects and product managers.

General requirements:

MSc or BSc in electrotechnical or systems engineering or comparable level,
At least 5 years experience in the chip industry in engineering positions at R&D centres or system laboratories,
Team player, excellent communication skills, especially in Dutch and English language,
Willingness to invest in knowledge and skill increment on Security, Networking and Wireless systems design,
Organizational skills, project management skills.

Functional requirements:

In depth experience in implementation-level specification, design, implementation, simulation, synthesis & timing analysis,
In depth knowledge of ASIC, FPGA and IP design technologies, implementation and verification methodologies,
In depth knowledge of embedded processor architectures (NPU, CPU, ARM, MIPS, Security Processor), and system interfaces,
Experienced user of industry standard ASIC implementation tools (Synopsys, Cadence),
Practical knowledge of network interfaces, -standards and -protocols,
Practical knowledge of network security protocols and security implementation,
Practical knowledge of cryptographic protocols and algorithms,
Project planning, reporting and tracking tools.

In executing his/her tasks, intensive co-operation is required with:

Product Managers to assist on technical marketing aspects,
System architects to provide implementation feedback,
Design Teams (HW / SW) to align with implementation of specified products.

He/she will be a member of the SafeNet BV Hardware Development team, will report to the Team manager and Research and Development Manager and will be based in Vught, the Netherlands.
