    Network Security Application SW Engineer (MSc, BSc)

    The System Application and Integration Lab of the Networking Business Unit provides a bridge between outward customer focus and inward engineering efficiency. It helps the Networking Business Unit to speed new products to market and facilitate sales by packaging existing technologies as customer oriented solutions. The work of the System Application and Integration Lab is stimulated by customer needs and promotes rapid productivity on handoff to formal project teams. It leads to concept demonstrations to support sales and build common vision. The output of the Lab will be integrated HW/SW solutions, software development and evaluation kits, accurate system performance data, feedback to HW/SW design teams for new product development projects.

    The Network Security Application SW Engineer is responsible for the integration of the different SafeNet products such as security processors and accelerators, device drivers and communication middleware, network security SW applications into one system solution. The integration comprises the definition, implementation, prototyping, testing and benchmarking against specified requirements and competitive network security solutions.

    The Network Security Application SW Engineer is a software engineer with a profound experience with network security solutions and affection for embedded SW. Major areas of expertise are network traffic analysis and anomalies detection and prevention, security protocols and algorithms, networking interfaces, standards and protocols, network HW infrastructure, network security applications performance benchmark methods and tools. Additional expertise with security processors, NPUs, embedded CPUs, embedded operating systems and development tools will be a strong advantage.

    Tasks also include functional specification, development, verification and benchmarking of network security applications built out of separate SafeNet products. In addition integration and testing of SafeNet products with third party solutions such as network processor based systems.

    General requirements:
    • MSc or BSc in computer science or equivalent,
    • At least 5 years experience with network security applications in engineering positions,
    • Ability and willingness for teamwork,
    • Sound communication skills in oral and written, especially in English language,
    • Willingness to build up in knowledge in networking systems design,

    Functional requirements:
    • In depth knowledge of network security protocols and applications (IPSec/SSL VPN, IKE, stateful firewalls, IPS/IDS, AV, ALG),
    • In depth knowledge of networking hardware (Ethernet, routers, gateways, firewalls),
    • In depth knowledge of network interfaces, standards and protocols (OSI, IPv4/v6, TCP, UDP, HTTP, sockets),
    • Profound knowledge of cryptographic algorithms and protocols (PKI, block ciphers, message digest),
    • Good knowledge of C programming language, script languages (Perl)
    • Advanced user/administrator knowledge of general-purpose OSes (Linux, Windows),
    • Hands-on experience with OS kernel debuggers and profilers
    • Practical knowledge of processor architectures (NPU, CPU, RISC, Security Processor),
    • Experience with embedded SW design is preferred,
    • Experience with HW/SW co-design and co-verification is preferred,

    In executing his/her tasks intensive co-operation is required with:
    • HW/SW Design Teams to align implementation of specified products

    He/she will be a member of the SafeNet BV Systems Application and Integration Team, will report to the Team manager and Research and Development Manager and will be based in Vught, the Netherlands.
